Renewable energy actually is the cheapest power option in most parts of the world today. Prices for renewable energy technologies are dropping rapidly. The cost of electricity from solar power fell by 85 per cent between 2010 and 2020. Costs of onshore and offshore wind energy fell by 56 per cent and 48 per cent respectively.
Solar energy, for instance, converts sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic cells, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and carbon dioxide emissions. Wind energy harnesses the kinetic energy of the wind through turbines to generate electricity, offering scalability and emitting no greenhouse gases. Hydropower utilizes the force of flowing or falling water to generate electricity, and with careful planning and advanced technologies, it can be developed sustainably. Geothermal energy taps into the heat stored beneath the Earth’s surface to produce electricity reliably and continuously.
